Submit applications for waste disposal and recycling activities under EMA 2005
For commercial and industrial facilities disposing of solid waste, liquid waste, livestock waste, or emitting air pollutants under Part 5, EMA 2005.
For facilities handling batteries, plastic bottles, landfill, recycling operations, waste transport, or solid waste dumps.
Required for all importers of lead acid batteries. Commits importer to take-back and licensed recycling under Waste Recycling Regulations 2007.
Required for importers of plastic products into Fiji under the Environment Management Act 2005 and related regulations.
Register community or corporate environment clean-up activities under the Environment Management Act 2005.
Lodge at least 30 days before your current permit expires
Renewal of an existing Waste Disposal Permit. Must be submitted at least 30 days before current permit expires.
Renewal of an existing Waste Recycling Permit. Lodge at least 30 days before expiry to ensure continuity of operations.
Transboundary movement documents — Prior Informed Consent required
Basel Convention prior informed consent notification. Must be submitted and approved by all competent authorities before any transboundary movement commences.
Accompanies the hazardous waste shipment at all times from origin to final destination. Signed at each stage by carrier, customs and facility.
Submit 6-monthly statutory returns for all recycling permit holders — batteries, plastic bottles, landfill, recycling, transport & solid waste dumps
6-monthly return for importers, manufacturers, distributors and bulk consumers of lead acid batteries. Reports imports, sales, buy-backs and disposal.
6-monthly return for importers and manufacturers of plastic bottles, covering imports, distribution, collection and disposal of PET and other plastic bottles.
6-monthly return for every landfill operator. Reports material deposited, incinerated, removed and liquid waste generated at the landfill site.
6-monthly return for every recycling facility. Covers all material recycled including exports, and disposal of waste not recycled.
6-monthly return for every waste transport operator. Reports material collected and deposited per vehicle operated, by category (solid, liquid, livestock).
6-monthly return for every solid waste dump operator. Reports material deposited, disposed and any incineration carried out at the dump.
